Funding Schemes


Application Support Services

UNSW provides comprehensive support mechanisms for funding applications. In addition to the discipline specific support and programs provided at the Faculty / School level, researchers can access support through the following units:

Grants Management Office

  • pre-award compliance checking , proof reading, and expertise regarding funding  body guidelines
  • providing assistance and advice regarding  application content and budget drafting including calculation of indirect costs via the UNSW research pricing tool
  • obtaining appropriate Head of School/Centre Director approval for grant submission
  • advising of outcome of applications
  • post-award management

Research Strategy and Partnerships Office

  • works with Faculties, research teams and researchers to secure research funding from competitive granting schemes
  • provides advice to researchers during the pre-award stage of grant application on the strategy of applying for funding from national competitive sources (right scheme – right project) 
  • provides strategic ‘lay review’ of applications
  • assists researchers seeking funding from industry, government and other external sources in the form of contract research and consultancy
  • assists in the establishment and development of research partnerships with external organisations, including advice in relation to building successful client relationships and establishing pathways that increase collaborative opportunities
