15 February 2012 Researchers wishing to receive strategic support/advice for their ARC DE13 Grant Proposal should register with the RSO by 15 February 2012.
29 February 2012 Close date for compliance review (Grants Management Office)
Please click "submit proposal to research office" in RMS so your compliance checker can review your application. Details of your compliance checker will be advised shortly after you have commenced your application in RMS.
21 March 2012 ARC External Close – applications must be submitted on RMS by 5pm.

All researchers intending on submitting an application in this round should initiate an application in RMS as soon as practical now the system is open. This enables the RSO and GMO to track your progress in the round and ensure that you have all the strategic (RSO), eligibility and compliance (GMO) support you need.

Part D2: Organisational Statement in respect to the Research Environment

All applicants who commence their application in RMS will be sent Research Strategy Office strategic advice on completing Part D2 of the DECRA application. If you have commenced your application in RMS but have not received this documentation please email mygrants [dot] gmo [at] unsw [dot] edu [dot] au. Note, this advice will only be provided to applicants who are registered in RMS with UNSW as the administering organisation.

BUDGET DOCUMENTATION

TEMPLATES TO ASSIST YOU IN COMPLETING YOUR APPLICATION

All templates have been prepared using 0.5cm margins and Times New Roman 12pt font. When the PDFs are generated via the RMS system, they can appear smaller than allowed however, this is just the result of the generation process and does not present an issue. As long as the original source document is correctly formatted, this will not present a compliance issue. Applicants may increase margin sizes if they wish. Please note: the use of Mac computers, open source software or older versions of word may cause the templates to display the incorrect formatting requirements. Please check the font size (min 12pt), margin size (min 0.5cm) and page size (A4) before converting to PDF.

Training and Support

 COMPLETING YOUR DECRA APPLICATION WORKSHOP

 

This session provides an overview of the scheme including some insights into constructing a competitive application. This session is targeted to researchers interested in applying in DE13.  There will be time for questions, and staff from both the RSO and the Grants Management Office (GMO) will be in attendance to answer specific strategic, compliance and eligibility questions.

STRATEGIC ADVICE AND REVIEW (RESEARCH STRATEGY OFFICE: RSO)

The RSO is offering strategic advice and review to researchers intending to submit an application through UNSW. To access this optional service, you should register by email (mailto:DECRA [dot] rso [at] unsw [dot] edu [dot] au) no later than Wednesday, 15 February 2012.

Please use the following convention for the Subject line of your registration email:
Request for RSO advice / review for DECRA13: [Surname, First name]

In the Body of the email, please provide the following information:
•    the name of the School/Centre and Faculty at UNSW where you propose to carry out the research;
•    the name of your proposed mentor/supervisor in that School/Centre; and
•    if applicable, the nature of your current appointment/relationship with UNSW (i.e. Continuing appointment; Contract appointment; Fellowship; Adjunct/Conjoint, etc).

You will receive a confirmation of registration email.You will need to provide your assigned RSO Reviewer with draft application materials no later than Wednesday, 22 February 2012. Please note – due to the large number of applications that the RSO will review, you are encouraged to provide your draft application materials well before the RSO’s review deadline.


GRANT STRATEGIC LIBRARY (RESEARCH STRATEGY OFFICE)

Remember to consult the RSO's library of successful grant applications for ideas on structuring your proposal and for a better understanding of the level at which your proposal should be pitched. Please call (x55600) or email Scott Hoggan (s [dot] hoggan [at] unsw [dot] edu [dot] au) to arrange a time to access the library. You will need to bring your UNSW staff card. Please note – applications may only be read in the library and may not be copied.

COMPLIANCE AND ADVISORY SUPPORT (GRANTS MANAGEMENT OFFICE)

The Grants Management Office undertakes a compliance review of all applications. When you ‘submit proposal to research office’ in RMS your compliance adviser will work with you to resolve any compliance, eligibility and budget queries as well as provide advice on completing your application within RMS and the overall submission process.
