Suitable for those beginning to publish, the aims of this workshop are to develop a considered and effective approach to building your research profile and also equip you to sustainably manage your research outputs using selected techniques and resources.

Pre- work: Some pre-work will be required to provide individual context and will be sent 7 days prior to workshop.

Note:  This is a BYOD - Bring Your Own Device - workshop, where participants are required to bring along their device with internet web browser access to use throughout the workshop. This will enable participants to easily bookmark and return to specific sites and tools explored in this workshop. Laptops and Tablets will work best for navigation.  Smartphones and iPads are not suitable for this workshop.

After completing this session you should be able to:

  • Identify and evaluate publication outlets relevant to your discipline and target audiences
  • Identify specific techniques and tips to improve the visibility of your publications in your chosen outlets
  • Manage your research publications including open access self-archiving
  • Identify and evaluate the range of outlets that can be used to project your research profile
  • Use research profile tools to increase the visibility of your publications
  • Recognise sources of UNSW support in building your profile and considering outlets to do so
