- applications for grants and fellowships
- negotiation of research contracts
- administration of externally funded funds

- provides full management services for ethics applications and monitoring
- part of Grants Management Office

| Research Strategy Office |
- identifies opportunities for research funding (including awards and fellowships) and advises or directly assists with development of high quality applications

- Secretariat for UNSW's Research, Teaching Program and Community Centres and Institutes

| Research Partnerships |
- provides strategic leadership in identification, establishment and management of research partnerships including industry, government and other external partners (inc. medical research and affiliated institutions)
- responsible for UNSW’s participation in contract research, consulting, multi-venture initiatives and philanthropic research partnerships

| Mark Wainwright Analytical Centre |
- houses major instrumentation used by Science, Medicine and Engineering researchers
- provides specialist consulting work for external clients
- provides technical/professional support (including training) for the instruments

| NewSouth Innovations |
- works with University researchers and commercial partners to bring results of UNSW research, innovation and invention to market

| Research Analysis, Performance and Profile Office |
- dedicated unit established to support the goal of continuously improving UNSW's position as a leading research intensive university in Australia.
