Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) Office
The Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) Office is a dedicated unit established (with similar infrastructure to that of the Australian Universities Quality Agency) to position UNSW for the ERA exercise.
ERA 2012

For the full round submission, the data that will be collected are research outputs, income, applied outputs, esteem measures and staff information. Esteem measures were not included in the 2009 Trial Submission.
ERA 2010 Submission: UNSW ERA Data Collection (6-Year and 3-Year Reference Periods for ERA Full Round - 1 January 2003 to 31 December 2008)
- The Online Research Activity Census was reopened on 18 January 2010 to collect researcher data.
- Lists of eligible staff (as per our HR database) will be distributed to ADRs, Field of Research (FoR) Leaders, and other relevant ERA contacts.
- The ERA Office, Faculties, Schools and the Library are working together on collecting and verifying missing research outputs; and on selecting and uploading research outputs selected for the Clusters that require peer review in the appropriate institutional repository
- The ERA Office will submit the UNSW ERA data via the ARC’s online submission system (SEER).
ERA 2010 Submission: RESEARCH OUTPUTS
- Data were collected for the whole University.
- The publications data are stored in the library using ResPubs.
- For researchers who have not been at UNSW for the whole reference period (2003-2008) and who were ‘paid’ members of staff at the census date, ERA Office collected all outputs for the reference period, regardless of the researcher’s location.
- The ERA Office collected lists of publications (or CVs), and update the data on ResPubs.
- The ERA Office and the library sent a request to researchers for them to verify their outputs already recorded in UNSW database---ResPubs.
Data Collection for Disciplines for Peer Review
- Research background (field, context, research question)
- Research contribution (innovation, new knowledge)
- Research significance (evidence of excellence)
