Introduction to Programming with R

This free live coding workshop is being offered by UNSW for researchers and research students, to assist in providing skills in writing programs that produce results, using the researcher-focused training modules from the highly regarded Software Carpentry Foundation (

In this course you will learn:

  • Programming concepts and techniques.
  • Basic syntax, control structures and data types in R.
  • How to load external data into R.
  • Ways to visualise data.
  • How to use factors for category data.
  • Best practices for writing code in R.

The course will be delivered by Intersect and held in Wallace Wurth Computer Lab G16-G17 (map ref C27).
