Publishing and Profile Building: Writing for Publication in Academic Journals

Suitable forThis workshop is most beneficial to those relatively new to writing for academic publications such as Early Career Researchers and Higher Degree Research Candidates. The workshop also benefits all academic, professional and technical staff working in a research or a academic support capacity.

This workshop is presented by Professor Sue Starfield who is the Director of The Learning Centre at The University of New South Wales.

The aim of this workshop is to offer participants a range of tools and suggestions for structuring and writing a journal article as well as for navigating the peer review process.

Sue Starfield leads the workshop providing depth of experience and advice in this area. The workshop will include approaches to structuring introduction and discussion sections, and reference to editing international journals and peer reveiwed journals.The workshop will conclude with a brief opportunity to provide feedback to a workshop participant about their draft article and likewise receive feedback about your own work.

Participants are asked to bring along:

•    An article they like from a journal they would like to publish in
•    A draft of an article or part of an article being worked on that they would be happy to let another participant look at and provide feedback on
