Excellence and Awards in Supervision

Quality supervision is critical to the success of any research candidature, including timely completion of milestones and the development of appropriate disciplinary, academic and research integrity practices. There are a number of annual and periodic awards that highlight and celebrate excellence in supervision. For information about key awards is outlined below.

UNSW Vice-Chancellor's Awards for Excellence in Postgraduate Research Supervision

The UNSW Vice-Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence in Postgraduate Research Supervision recognise and encourage sustained excellence in postgraduate research supervision.

Up to two awards are allocated each year. Each award consists of the presentation of an engraved medallion and the payment of $7,000 (subject to taxation). The award can, on request by the recipient, be paid by UNSW to the Department or School in which the academic is employed, to be used in a project being undertaken or to be undertaken by the recipient.

Recipients are expected to contribute to the development of supervisory practice at UNSW via School/Faculty committees and workshops run by the Research Division.
