Important Changes to NHMRC Documentation - GrantConnect

All non-corporate Commonwealth entities, including the Australian Research Council (ARC) and National Health & Medical Research Council (NHMRC) must only publish scheme documentation on GrantConnect to meet the requirements under the Commonwealth Grants Rules and Guidelines (CGRGs).GrantConnect is the authoritative source of information in relation to all Grant Opportunities and Grant Opportunity Guidelines— This includes Grant Guidelines (formerly known as Funding Rules) for all schemes under the National Competitive Grants Programs (NCGP).

You will need to sign in or create a User Registration account in GrantConnect to access all relevant documentation for Grant Opportunities.

Go to the GrantConnect website. Also accessible via https://www.grants.gov.au/

Where a minimum data deadline is specified, CIAs must have commenced an application and completed the RGMS minimum data requirement by 5pm on that date. Applications that do not meet these requirements will not be accepted by the NHMRC. The funding rules provide details on the data required for individual schemes. Please refer to 2018 Timetable for funding rules and details https://www.nhmrc.gov.au

The internal deadline for submission of grant applications is required to the GMO prior to the external deadline and by the internal deadline. This timeframe allows for your Grants Officer to review for eligibility, compliance and ensure your proposal complies with UNSW policies and sponsor requirements and allows time for amendments when required. This timeframe allows the GMO to ensure applications comply with UNSW policies and sponsor requirements. It is important that you meet these requirements as applications are not ordinarily submitted by the Grants Office outside these internal deadlines particularly for the Major schemes. For application and submission support, notify the Grants Management Office (GMO) of your intent to apply as soon as possible.

NHMRC Re-structure of Funding Program commencing in 2019

In May 2017 the NHMRC announced changes to its structure of its grant funding that will commence in 2019. The changes to the NHMRC funding structure are the result of the Structure Review of NHMRC’s Grant Programs. The review was undertaken to determine whether NHMRC ‘s research funding schemes could be structured to optimise the significant public investment in health and medical research investment, for funding starting 1 January 2020. The NHMRC New Grant Grant Scheme program details can also be found on the NHMRC Program Overview Webpage. The objective of the reform is to encourage innovation across all fields of health and medical research and provide opportunities for researchers at all career stages and across all disciplines.
