Dr Ademir Prata is a Research Associate and Associate Lecturer in the UNSW School of Civil and Environmental Engineering's Water Research Centre and member of the Odour Group. Ademir received a BSc degree in Environmental Engineering from the Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo – UFES (Brazil) in 2013, and his PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering from UNSW in 2017. His research focuses on the emission of atmospheric pollutants emanating from liquid surfaces (such as wastewater treatment plants) and their transport in the atmosphere.

My Research Activities

My research is focused on the emission of atmospheric pollutants emanating from liquid surfaces (such as wastewater treatment plants) and their transport in the atmosphere. I combine laboratory testing and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to investigate enclosure devices for sampling of odorous emissions at liquid surfaces. I also study the improvement of emission models and their relation with sampling devices. My major research interests are in transport phenomena applied to air quality, wastewater treatment and atmospheric/odorous emissions.

My Teaching

I have lectured in undergraduate and postgraduate courses on the topics of Fluid Mechanics, Wastewater, Hazardous Wastes, Environmental Sustainability and Water Engineering.
