My research focuses on development of rapid urban flood inundation models and integrating them with existing urban water planning tools such as UrbanBEATS. Currently, I'm developing an integrated framework to assess the performance of WSUD technologies as a flood mitigation strategy under current and future conditions. I'm also interested in the application of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence in the modelling of urban systems.

Areas of supervision

I am looking for talented local or international PhD applicants interested in working on the following areas: 

  • Development of Rapid Flood Inundation Models Using innovative conceptual, numerical, and machine learning based methods
  • Integrated Modelling of Urban and Rural Water Systems
  • Application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Water Resources
  • Development of Planning Support Tools for Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD)
  • Urban Flood Risk Mitigation Using Nature-Based Solutions
  • Water Resources Planning and Management

The suitable candidate will have a background in Civil / Water / Environmental Engineering; Applied Mathematics; or Artificial Intelligence fields. The candidate should have a demonstrated aptitude for programming and an understanding of urban catchment hydrology, urban stormwater management, and GIS software.
