Dr Hamid Reza Lashgari

Biography

I received my Ph.D. degree in “Materials Science and Engineering” from UNSW in 2016 and M.Sc. in “Materials Selection and Characterisation” from the University of Tehran in 2008 and B.Eng. in “Physical Metallurgy Engineering” from the IKIU University in 2006. I have 4 years work experience as Corrosion Engineer/Risk-based Inspection (RBI) engineer in various oil and gas projects particularly in LPG plant, and Urea and ammonia plant from 2009 to 2013 before I studied my PhD degree at UNSW. I am currently working as a Technical Officer-Research in the School of Materials Science and Engineering at UNSW and was responsible for two Torch projects funded by HCCL and SZSP. I was also the key researcher to deliver the Baosteel project entitled “The Development of High Bs and low Hc Fe-based amorphous/nanocrystalline alloys” at UNSW from 2013 to 2016 and also the IDRO project entitled “The Development of CoCrMo alloy for implant applications”. Working in the industry has given me a unique opportunity to attain invaluable experience in different standards and codes such as API, ASME, NACE, and ASTM. In my current role, I am focusing on additive manufacturing of metals, metal matrix composites, ceramics, and bulk metallic glasses. My main interest is in the correlation between microstructure and mechanical properties of additively manufactured parts and components.
