My research interests centre on geomechanics and rock characterization. My research interests centre on geomechanics and rock characterization. Specifically, I work on theoretical, numerical and experimental developments of multiphysics in rocks in particular shale and coal as well as innovative formation characterisation techniques using downhole logging measurements. The required input for these complex models are obtained using these formation characterisation techniques leading these models applicable to field scale investigations. These multiphysics studies have a wide range of applications from petroleum to mining, civil and environmental engineering.

I am the leader of GeoEngineering Research Laboratory that hosts the state-of-the-art equipment for multiphysics investigations and my team works with a national team of researchers on rock characterization and modelling.

Before joining Academia, I worked with Underground Gas Storage Company for several years where I obtained an invaluable experience enabling me to connect my fundamental research to field applications.

We currently have openings in my team for highly motivated candidates with strong academic background from physics, petroleum, mining or civil disciplines to join our group to work on a wide range of projects on formation characterisation/evaluation, rock mechanics/geomechanics, fluid mechanics/porous media and other related areas.
