He obtained his PhD in Materials Science and Engineering in 2009 from the joint PhD program of University of Tsukuba and National Institute for Materials Science of Japan (NIMS). From 2009 to 2012, he worked as a postdoc researcher in the same lab of his PhD study at NIMS under the supervision of Prof. Guoping Chen. Since 2012, he has been working in UNSW mentored by Prof. Martina Stenzel. His research focuses on the development of nano drug carriers and novel 2D and 3D cellular models for the evaluation of nano drug carriers. He is also interested in the development of 3D scaffolds for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine and investigation of cell-biomaterials interactions. Dr. Lu was awarded with the Young Investigator Award from Japanese Society for Regenerative Medicine (Japan, 2012) and the Young Scientist Award from International Symposium of Materials on Regenerative Medicine (Taiwan, 2010). He has published more than 60 peer reviewed journal papers with more than 900 citations. His current H-index is 17.
