Dr Leigh Aldous completed his PhD in Chemistry & Chemical Engineering at the Queen’s University of Belfast in 2007, under Prof. Hardacre at QUILL (Queen’s University Ionic Liquid Laboratory). After that he spent time working as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the same institution (to 2009), and at the Physical & Theoretical Chemistry Laboratory at the University of Oxford (to 2011). In 2011 he was appointed as a Lecturer at the School of Chemistry, University of New South Wales, where he is Program Coordinator of the BSc Nanotechnology course.

Dr. Aldous’ research focuses upon electrochemistry in ionic liquids (for biomass conversion, hydrogen storage and unique physical characteristics), as well as electroanalysis using nanocarbons. Dr. Aldous has published more than 67 articles and 2 patents in the past 6 years.
