I am a postdoctoral fellow at the Expanded Perception and Interaction Center interested in explainable AI (XAI), reinforcement learning, serious games, and human computer interaction. I work remotely from Tasmania in this position. For my PhD work, I developed a serious game to help motivate players to partake in energy conservation behaviours. My more recent work has looked at how reinforcement learning techniques can be applied to wargaming and defense scenarios. I teach in the areas of mobile and ubiquitous computing, and video game development.

My Qualifications

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D), University of Tasmania (Awarded 2018)
Supervisors: Dr Kristy de Salas, Dr Ian Lewis, Dr Adam Berry (CSIRO Energy)
Thesis Title: Energy Explorer: A Theory-Informed Design for a Serious Game with the Purpose of Promoting Energy Conservation Behaviours

Bachelor of Computing with First Class Honours, University of Tasmania (University Medallist; Awarded 2012)

Bachelor of Computing, University of Tasmania (BComp; Awarded 2011)

My Research Activities

My current research activities include partnering with Defense Science Technologies group on reinforcement learning for wargaming, and outside this I am building a portfolio of work looking at how immersive visualization techniques can aid in explainable AI for reinforcement learning.
