Areas of supervision

Lu welcomes expressions of interest to join the team at the Honours, Masters and PhD levels.

PhD position available. Project: Glycopolymer interactions with blood vessels. The focus to understand how glycopolymer biomaterials interact with the blood vessel interface, an extracellular matrix at the surface of endothelial cells. This project is suited to candidates interested in developing their skills in biomaterials, biochemistry and biophysics and interested in working on a collaborative project with Synedgen Inc.

An attractive scholarship package is available for domestic candidates who meet the eligibility criteria (Australian citizen or permanent resident and hold the equivalent of a First-class Honours degree in Engineering, Science or related field). Please contact Lu for more information.

Currently supervising

Honours student:

Toobah Farooqi, Structural dynamics of hyaluronan in the endothelial glycocalyx: Understanding molecular changes during inflammation

Taste of Research student:

Willson Blesstian, The mechanisms of polymer interactions with the endothelial glycocalyx

My Engagement

Member of Australasian Society for Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering (ASBTE)

Member of Matrix Biology Society of Australia and New Zealand (MBSANZ)
