Description:

Dr Matthew Wright is an ARENA post-doctoral fellow in the School of Photovoltaic and Renewable Energy Engineering at UNSW. His PhD and first post-doctoral studies were in the field of solution processed solar cells, where he studied various aspects of organic and perovskite solar cells. During his current ARENA project, Dr Wright is working on defect engineering and post-cell processing to further the development of silicon heterojunction solar cells fabricated using p-type silicon.

Education:

  • PhD in Photovoltaic Engineering "The Effect of Blend Composition on Bulk Heterojunction Organic Solar Cells" (The University of New South Wales, 2015).

  • Bachelor of Engineering (First Class Honours) Photovoltaic Engineering, (The University of New South Wales, 2011).

Current Project:

Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA): Hydrogenated and Hybrid-Heterojunction p-type Silicon Solar Cells

Scientific Communication:

I was runner up in the 2013 UNSW interfaculty Three Minute Thesis Final. Watch the talk here.

In 2018, I published an article in The Conversation about semitransparent solar cells for window applications.
