Mahfuz Ashraf draws on a diverse background to address socio-business problems at the intersection of Information Communication Technology (ICT) adoption and it's impact on socio-economic development in resource poor settings e.g. rural/urban and indigenous  communities.  Mahfuz’s career spans in both professional and academic settings. Mahfuz devised marketing strategies for an Australian material handling company for identifying business opportunities of introducing telepresence robots in the Australian aged care market while working in WHO Collaborating Centre on eHealth, University of New South Wales in 2014-15.

Mahfuz’s works have been recognised at Singapore Internet Research Centre, Singapore and International Development Research Centre, Canada, UNESCO Chair in ICT for Development and Research Division, United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) and Government of Bangladesh. Mahfuz holds a doctorate degree in the areas of ICT for Development and a masters degree in information systems management from the University of South Australia and the London South Bank University, UK. Mahfuz is researching the conceptual and practical understanding of social business principles and social enterprise in the precincts of sustainable health service delivery.
