Associate Professor Paul Preisz, is currently the acting director of the Emergency Department at St Vincent’s Hospital Darlinghurst, Sydney. This is a major public teaching hospital at the forefront of medical care in Australia with a reputation for excellence and world-renowned expertise in transplantation, cancer treatment and emergency care.

Associate Professor Paul Preisz has a long-term commitment to improving emergency care for patients with issues related to mental health, drugs and alcohol, homelessness and social disadvantage.

Associate Professor Paul Preisz was one of the first NSW Directors of Clinical Training for junior doctors. He served for more than fifteen years as an examiner for the Court of Examiners of the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine and was Chairman of the final Fellowship Examination Committee. He now serves as the national Discipline Leader for the teaching of Emergency and Critical Care Medicine for the University of Notre Dame and is Conjoint Senior Lecturer in Emergency Medicine for St Vincent’s Clinical School, UNSW Medicine, UNSW Sydney.
