Dr Prasannah Prabhakharan is a Research Fellow at the Research Centre for Integrated Transport Innovation (rCITI) UNSW. With a BSc (Hons) in Psychology and PhD in Human Factors (UNSW), his key research interest focuses on improving transport safety systems by identifying how cognitive and attentional ‘mistakes’ occur and optimising human performance through training and other interventions. His postdoctoral training at the University of Nottingham, UK, saw him continue his research at the Nottingham Integrated Transport and Environment Simulation (NITES) Facility within the School of Psychology. Following this, he applied his research expertise to industry, working for Transport for NSW, providing subject matter expertise in human factors, research and program evaluation.
More recently his research explores the rise of connected and automated vehicles (CAVs) and the human factors and safety implications of this new era in transportation.
