Dr. Shuying Wu is an ARC DECRA Fellow in the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering. She received her bachelor and master in Polymer Science and Engineering from Hefei University of Technology in China. She then moved to Deakin University (supported by International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS)) where she got her PhD degree in the Polymer Science and Engineering. After completion of her PhD, she started working as a research fellow at RMIT University in 2014. In 2017, Shuying secured an ARC DECRA (Discovery Early Career Researcher Award), which supports her research, focusing on design and fabrication of flexible, highly stretchable, and sensitive strain/pressure sensors.

Dr Wu's research is largely concerned with establishing structure-property relationships for composites materials. Her current research projects include functional polymer nanocomposites, Nanostructured Materials, and Advanced Fiber-Reinforced Polymer Composites and Structures.

Dr. Wu is looking for highly motivated and self-disciplined students majoring in Polymer//Material Science and Engineering to join the group. For interested applicants please contact via email: shuying.wu@unsw.edu.au
