Lecturer in high-performance architecture in the School of Built Environment, FADA, UNSW, and course convener for MArch first-year design studios. Prior work includes sustainability roles in local government, director of own architectural practice for over ten years and sessional academic in architecture, sustainability and planning. PhD in architecture and urban microclimates. Interest in transdisciplinarity and knowledge transfer from climate science to architectural design. Available for PhD supervision and collaborate research opportunities.

My Grants

Grant activity includes:

  • currently working on DECRA application (2021)
  • CRC Low Carbon Living: Guide to urban cooling strategies (UNSW RG162627, 2016)
  • internal infrastructure (equipment) grant (UNSW Faculty of BE, 2015)

My Qualifications

  • PhD (UNSW 2021)
  • Master of Sustainability (Sydney University 2013)
  • Bachelor (Master equivalent) of Architecture (WITS University, Johannesburg)
  • Bachelor of Architectural Studies (WITS University, Johannesburg)
  • Bachelor of Science (Engineering) (University of Cape Town).

My Research Activities

PhD in architecture and urban microclimate research with a focus on the effects of facade design on facade surface temperature and outdoor microclimate. Interest in transdisciplinarity and knowledge transfer between technical and constructivist epistemologies. Available for PhD supervision and collaborate research opportunities. Current research on pedestrian outdoor thermal comfort and the application of thermal judgement in architectural design.
