Angela is a Scientia Phd Scholar in the School of Law, Society and Criminology in the Faculty of Law and Justice at UNSW, and a tutor in the Faculty of Arts, Design and Architecture. Her research interests include political geography, critical theory, borders and migration, colonialism, and security practices in North Africa. Angela’s doctoral research project takes an interdisciplinary approach to the study of aviation and air power in deportation and border policing practices across the Mediterranean. She brings a critical perspective to the governance of migration and borders, drawn from a decade of experience working with INGOs and IGOs. Angela has previously taught at the University of Melbourne and the Netherlands-Flemish Institute in Cairo, and holds a Masters in Migration and Refugee Studies from the American University in Cairo.
