I was born in London, took my D.Phil. at Oxford University and have been at UNSW since 1977. I am a former head of the history school, and was the Faculty’s Associate Dean for Research and Postgraduate Affairs from 2002-7.
Gabrielle Finnane is a lecturer in environmental media and contemporary Asian media art. She does interdisciplinary research on walking as a creative practice, and on the history, practice and poetics of the moving image.
My broad interests include biomechanics of the diseased joint, tissue engineering as it relates to sports medicine and joint reconstruction, Arthroplasty and implant fixation, drilling of bone and osteonecrosis.
