UNSW researchers learn how supercomputer resources and AI technology can support their research during the HPC-AI Training Week
For the first time since 2019, Research Technology Services (ResTech) are once again hosting in-person workshops with the launch of the HPC-AI Training Week in collaboration with the National Computational Infrastructure (NCI) Australia. This 3-day event encompassed workshops, hands-on tutorials, and lectures where researchers gained invaluable insight into supercomputer tools, using accelerators and AI/Machine Learning models to improve code performance and solve research problems.
With a large interest from UNSW researchers, registration exceeded the maximum capacity, and an additional 30 people were placed on the waitlist.
The event began with a welcome from ResTech representative, Beatta Zarrabi and was followed by seminars and interactive training sessions by NCI facilitators, Stephen Sanderson, a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at University of Queensland, Samuel Yang-Zhao, a Training Officer at NCI, and Fred Fung a Staff Scientist Training Officer at NCI.
Attendees not only found the event informative and engaging but found opportunities to network with peers during social breaks, many coming away with new collaborators.
“The course content [was] truly helpful, especially, deep learning...The workshop [helped with] networking. I got to know some mates and have really collaborative conservation[s]. The workshop [was] well-organised and professional.”
Thank you to the organisers Beatta Zarrabi (ResTech), Fred Fund (NCI) and Zhuochen Wu (NCI)
