RSO Strategic Support for Competitive Grants Funding

Research Strategy Office

The Research Strategy Office (RSO) supports the University's research performance and profile by working with Faculties, research teams and researchers to provide strategic advice and support to secure research funding from a range of sources.

  • This page outlines how the RSO provides strategic support to UNSW researchers for competitive granting schemes.
  • For information about services provided by the RSO for international research please visit the RSO International Partnerships website.

Strategic One-on-one Advice

The RSO (formerly the RSPO) provides expert advice to researchers during the pre-award stage of grant applications on the strategy of applying for funding from national competitive sources (right scheme – right project) as well as providing strategic ‘lay review’ of applications.

This role is complementary to the compliance checking of applications and scheme advice provided by the Research Grants and Contracts Office (see below for more).

The RSO's specialised team members provide expert one-on-one advice regarding major grants schemes including:

Research Grants and Contracts (RGC) Office

The RGC - comprising the Grants Management Office and Research Contracts Office - provides full compliance and pre- and post administration of UNSW's research funding.

  • The RGC website provides a full schedule of current funding schemes plus links to relevant conditions and requirements as well as advice on contracts, templates and the Pricing Tool.
