InfoEd UNSW's comprehensive Research Management system for tracking and managing grant applications, with facilities for compliance, finance and reporting
What is InfoEd?
The InfoEd grants management system is used by UNSW to record and track research grants. InfoEd gives you access to all data recorded about an application or grant, including:
- Status - received, submitted to sponsor, awarded, funds released;
- All correspondence / documentation, including contracts and reports;
- Up-to-date financial reports (via a direct link to the NSS project record);
- What milestone reports / deliverables are required and when they are due.
All communications from InfoEd will be sent to your primary UNSW email address - e.g. zID@unsw.edu.au (as opposed to firstname.lastname@example.org). This cannot be changed. If you don't regularly check this email address please ensure you auto-forward emails to your preferred address, or risk missing crucial information regarding your grant application and management.
InfoEd will be accessible to users on the UNSW Network (this includes the primary UNSW sites includes the Kensington, Coogee, COFA, Randwick, CBD Campuses, Rural Clinical School and some UNSW Hospital sites).
Sites and users that are not on the UNSW Network will need to set up and use the UNSW VPN (Virtual Private Network).

Access the SPIN Research Grant Database via InfoEd
The SPIN research database allows researchers to access details about potential funding sources, both local and overseas. The search engine enables researchers to tailor their interrogations of the database.
Log into InfoEd using your zID and zPass. On the top bar, click "Find Funding" icon. This will take your directly to SPIN. For further instructions and information;
Maintaining your InfoEd Records
- All personal data in InfoEd is obtained from the HR system. If you note any errors in your personal data including your Faculty, School or Centre, please contact HR to correct it. Once that is done the corrected data will flow to InfoEd within a week.
- If you believe that there are errors in the InfoEd records for your applications or grants, please contact email@example.com
- For any technical issues with InfoEd, contact the UNSW Service Desk. firstname.lastname@example.org or call 51333.
If you would like further support or to arrange a tutorial, please contact email@example.com
- Researchers: access all applications or awards on which you are a named investigator by logging in with your zID and zPass (no access request is required).
- Administrators: complete the InfoEd Access Application - Administrator form and email to firstname.lastname@example.org. This provides you with access to all records in your unit (Faculty, School or Centre).
You will receive email confirmation from the Research Analysis, Data & Reporting (RADAR) when your access to these records has been activated.

RMS is a web-based system used to prepare and submit research applications, assessments and rejoinders for all Australian Research Councils Grant Programs. Registered users can login in using your email address and password at https://rms.arc.gov.au. To request a new account, go to https://rms.arc.gov.au and click on the Request New Account link.

- Research Output auto-population in RMS
From November 2018, researchers will be able to auto-populate their research output data into their ARC RMS person profiles and applications forms. This auto-population could occur a number of ways including exporting data from ORCID and BibTeX, using a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) to automatically harvest output metadata, and there will also be an option to upload manually
How to Access and Update your Personal profile:
Login to RMS 2.0
On your home screen, known as the ‘Action Centre’, find the ‘Person Profile’ section
Click on each of the Personal Profile sections in turn (‘Personal Details’, ‘Qualifications’ and ‘Employment’) and enter your details where any fields are blank.
You can still view all the details you previously entered in RMS - under the ‘Personal Profile’ section, click on ‘RMS legacy information’ to log in your old RMS account.
How to Request a New Account:
If you never had an RMS account, visit the RMS 2.0 homepage and click “request new account”. A new screen will appear where you can enter your details.
Under “Admin Organisation”, select “The University of New South Wales”. This allows UNSW to administer your account and track your proposal once you commence an application.
- Under “Organisation”, select your current organisation (or enter it in the free text box).
- Once you complete your details and click “register” at the bottom of the screen, you will be sent an automatic email asking you to validate your email address. Click the link to confirm your address.
- Your request will be sent to the UNSW research office and ARC for approval. This may take several business days.
- Once approved, you will receive an automatic email with instructions for setting up your password. Once this is complete, you will be able to log in to RMS 2.0 and begin setting up your personal profile.

RGMS is a program and portfolio management system that enables you to apply for, track and administer NHMRC grants online, as well as participate in peer review. Researchers can also maintain a profile and curriculum vitae, which is used for application and other administrative purposes.
