Dr. Chengpei Xu is a Postdoc Fellow at the Mine Internet of Things and Indoor Positioning (MIoT & IPIN) Lab, MERE, University of New South Wales, Sydney.

Dr. Chengpei Xu is a Postdoc Fellow at the Mine Internet of Things and Indoor Positioning (MIoT & IPIN) Lab, MERE, University of New South Wales, Sydney.

He received his Bachelor's degree in System Engineering from NUDT, China, Master's degree in Information Technology from University of New South Wales (UNSW), and Ph.D. degree in Computing Sciences and Engineering from University of Technology Sydney (UTS) in 2022.

His research focuses on Multi-modal Learning and Generative AI. He is dedicated to designing deep learning algorithms for multi-modal scene/document understanding and analysis, as well as developing generative AI for various applications such as healthcare, eLearning and human–computer interaction. Additionally, his works extends to multi-modal sensor fusion aimed at understanding complex, degraded environments and the detection and recognition of arbitrarily shaped scene text. His expertise spans several applied domains, enhancing the practical impact.
