Dr Fulin Qu is a Senior Research Associate at the Intelligent Concrete and Infrastructure Materials (ICIM) research group within the Centre for Infrastructure Engineering and Safety (CIES) at the University of New South Wales, Sydney.

Dr Qu earned a PhD from the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) in early 2022. Prior to joining UNSW Sydney in 2024, Dr Qu was part of the Research Centre for Resources Engineering towards Carbon Neutrality (RCRE) at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

Dr Qu's research is at the forefront of sustainable civil engineering materials, focusing on innovative solutions such as biomass-derived biochar-enhanced composites, advanced geopolymer and coal-based materials, and the utilization of seawater and sea sand. His work also emphasizes the high-volume incorporation of industrial by-products like slag and fly ash, as well as the use of recycled aggregates, all contributing to significant strides in decarbonization and the advancement of a circular economy. Furthermore, Dr Qu's research rigorously assesses the durability and performance of these intelligent, sustainable, and low-carbon materials under extreme conditions, including marine, mining, and sulfate corrosion, as well as high-temperature environments.
