Burden of cancer – prevention, treatment, costs and related diseases

The aims of this Fellowship are to utilise and further extend recently developed methods for estimating different aspects of disease burden in order to:

a.   Clarify the relative importance of genetic, environmental and lifestyle factors, alone and in combination, on the risk of developing cancer

b.   Assess the prediction and relative importance of both patient- and treatment-related factors on choice and outcome of cancer treatment

c.   Estimate the costs, effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of different chemotherapy protocols for cancer treatment and prevalence of diseased

d.   Evaluate the cumulative burden of diseases through the study of diseases preceding and following cancer.
