Dr. Ang Liu is an Associate Professor of Engineering Design at the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, University of New South Wales. He obtained his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Southern California (USC) in 2012. Dr. Ang Liu is an Associate Professor of Engineering Design at the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, University of New South Wales. He obtained his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Southern California (USC) in 2012. He was a Visiting Assistant Professor and Manager of the Viterbi iPodia Program at USC from 2013 to 2016. He joined UNSW as a Senior Lecturer in 2016 and became an Associate Professor in 2020. Dr. Liu's research interests include innovative design thinking, design theory and methodology, intelligent manufacturing, digital twin, and engineering education.
Dr. Liu is an Associate Member of the International Academy for Production Engineering (CIRP), JSPS Invitational Fellow, Fellow of the PLuS Alliance, and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). He was Co-Chair of the 10th International Conference on Axiomatic Design (ICAD2016) and General Chair of the 13th International Conference on Axiomatic Design (ICAD2019). He received multiple awards such as the Park's Best Journal Paper Award, UNSW Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning, one of the 250 top researchers by the Australian's Research Magzine 2021, etc. He serves in the editorial boards of multiple prestigious journals such as Journal of Engineering Design, Digital Twin, Scientific Reports, Production & Manufacturing Research, Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering, Machines, Green Manufacturing Open, etc. He is Chair of the 2nd Digital Twin International Conference and the 33rd CIRP Design Conference.
