A/Prof Oliver Fisher is an Associate Professor and Lead for Surgical Teaching and Research at the St George & Sutherland Clinical Campus, School of Clinical Medicine, University of New South Wales. A/Prof Oliver Fisher is an Associate Professor and Lead for Surgical Teaching and Research at the St George & Sutherland Clinical Campus, School of Clinical Medicine, University of New South Wales. He is a hepatopancreatobiliary and upper gastrointestinal surgeon with an active clinical practice encompassing both oncological and benign foregut disease, as well as complex hernia and abdominal wall reconstruction. His research focuses on Barrett’s oesophagus in the context of metabolic and bariatric surgery, surgical outcomes, and the integration of translational science into clinical decision-making.
Oliver has a strong interest in surgical data science and the development of large-scale, high-fidelity data repositories to advance understanding of real-world outcomes and variability in surgical practice. His academic vision centres on building collaborative frameworks that unite surgical innovation, education, and outcomes research—laying the groundwork for a data-driven, translational future in surgery.
