Dr B. T. (Toan) Phung is an Associate Professor in Energy Systems. He runs the High Voltage Laboratory in the School of Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications. His  research interests include:

  • Condition monitoring of substation and power system equipment; development of smart sensors and intelligent monitoring systems
  • Electromagnetic transients in power systems, lightning
  • Application of signal processing techniques in condition monitoring
  • Application of artificial intelligence - data mining, neural networks, expert systems for pattern recognition.
  • Power System Analysis - computational techniques
  • Power Quality - harmonics, transients, etc
