Dr Arash Mahboubi (PhD) is an academic and researcher in Cybersecurity at the School of Professional Studies, University of New South Wales (UNSW) Canberra, Australia. Before joining UNSW, he was a Research Acceleration Fellow and faculty member at the Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Futures Institute, Charles Sturt University (CSU), where he also served as Deputy Leader of the Cybersecurity Research Group. He earned his PhD in Information Security from the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in 2018, a Master’s degree in Information Security from the University of Technology Malaysia (UTM) in 2014, and a Bachelor of Science (First-Class Honours) in Computer Security from Staffordshire University in 2012. Dr Mahboubi’s research focuses on cybersecurity, ransomware resilience, AI-driven threat detection, and the security of agricultural technologies (AgTech). He has developed patented and trademarked innovations, including the REDWIRE ransomware-resilient system (WO2024148395A1) and the Virtual Chief Information Security Officer (vCISO) cyber threat intelligence platform. His interdisciplinary projects involve collaboration with CSIRO, the Cyber Security Cooperative Research Centre (CSCRC), and multiple state governments and agencies, advancing practical cybersecurity solutions across critical sectors.
