Since joining the Kirby Institute in 2009, I have been a project statistician and coordinator for the TREAT Asia studies, with a primary focus on the HIV observational databases (TAHOD, TAHOD-LITE, TAHOD CC) and antiretroviral resistance studies (TASER-M, TASER-S, TASER-2). My career spans both the pharmaceutical industry and contract research organizations, where I have contributed to clinical trials and data-driven research. I am currently a Senior Research Fellow at the Kirby Institute, working across the Biostatistics and Databases Program and the Biosecurity Program. I bring extensive expertise in the analysis of diverse medical and epidemiological data types—including matched case-control, cross-sectional, and longitudinal datasets—particularly within large, multi-regional cohorts. In addition to my research, I supervise several PhD candidates across a range of disciplines. My broader research interests include haematological malignancies and peripheral blood stem cell transplantation.

My Grants

I am part of the International Epidemiology Databases to Evaluate AIDS (IeDEA) grant U01AI069907.

My Qualifications

  • PhD - "HIV Drug Resistance and Adherence to Antiretroviral Therapy in Asia" (The Kirby Institute, UNSW Sydney, Australia)
  • Master of Statistics  (UNSW Sydney, Australia)
  • Bachelor of Science (Statistics and Pharmacology, University of Sydney, Australia)

My Research Activities

I have been a biostatistician for the TREAT Asia HIV Observational Database (TAHOD, TAHOD-LITE, TAHOD-CC) and contributed to numerous publications over the years, focusing on risk factors, treatment adherence, and genotypic resistance among people living with HIV (PLHIV) in Asia. More recently, I was involved in the development and analysis of several TAHOD sub-studies, including those examining pregnancy outcomes among women living with HIV, mental health-related issues, linkage strategies for patients lost to follow-up, and the incidence and outcomes of COVID-19 among PLHIV. I also participated in a multi-regional study assessing risk factors for treatment and survival outcomes in both HIV-positive and HIV-negative individuals diagnosed with malignant lymphoma.

Areas of supervision

I offer higher degree research supervision in the field of biostatistics and epidemiology. I have been a statistics tutor for the Kirby Institute Biostatistics workshop and a lecturer for the Kirby's CHART program. I have conducted statistics workshops at international conferences and meetings. I am particularly interested in cohort databases. If you are interested in pursuing your postgraduate degree, please get in touch with me for a chat.
