Dr Daniel Tilia is the Principal Research Optometrist at nthamic Pty Ltd and an Adjunct Lecturer at the School of Optometry and Vision Science, UNSW Medicine.

Dr Tilia has over 30 years' experience as a registered optometrist. He spent the first 16 years of his career in fulltime private optometric practice (1990-2006) before joining the Institute for Eye Research (IER) as a Research Optometrist in 2006. He held the position of Senior Research Optometrist at both the IER and the Brien Holden Vision Institute (BHVI) from 2013-2016, and was the Clinic Research Manager at the BHVI from 2016-2019 before joining nthalmic in 2020.

Dr Tilia has served as the Principal Investigator in more than 35 clinical trials and as a team member in more than 175 clinical trials. He is currently the Chief Investigator in several international, multisite clinical trials assessing the efficacy of optical devices for reducing the rate of myopia progression in children. He has published more than 30 papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals spanning the areas of contact lenses, lens care solutions, vision correction devices and ophthalmic instrumentation. He has over 40 scientific abstracts and regularly presents his scientific work at various national and international optometric conferences. Dr Tilia is a voluntary anonymous reviewer for several peer-reviewed scientific journals.
