Dr David Petty joined UNSW Canberra as a lecturer in 2022. Research into high-fidelity variable-density turbulence modelling was undertaken at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as a research scientists in the Center for Exascale Simulation of Plasma-Coupled Combustion. Another active area of research is state-to-state modelling of vibrational nonequilibrium gasdynamics in supersonic expanding flows.
