Biography
Dr. Fekede Kumsa is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), School of Clinical Medicine, Discipline Pediatrics and Child Health.

Dr. Fekede Kumsa is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), School of Clinical Medicine, Discipline Pediatrics and Child Health.
Prior to joining UNSW, he served as an Assistant Professor of Epidemiology at Haramaya University, Ethiopia, where he also served as Head of the School of Public Health. He has extensive teaching and supervision experience, delivering basic and advanced courses in epidemiology and research methodology to undergraduate and postgraduate students and supervising master’s and PhD research.
Dr. Kumsa has also worked as a public health consultant and Evidence-to-Policy Specialist with the FENOT project, implemented by the University of British Columbia and Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. He previously served as an Honorary Research Associate at the University of British Columbia’s School of Population and Public Health.
Dr. Kumsa completed two years of postdoctoral fellowship training at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Center for Biomedical Informatics, in Memphis, Tennessee, USA, and continues to contribute remotely as a Research Consultant with the Center.
His research interests include maternal and child health, maternal nutrition and gestational weight gain, cancer epidemiology, artificial intelligence in cancer care, and the social determinants of health.

Currently working on the evaluation of the impact of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) immunisation on short- and long-term health outcomes associated with respiratory infections among infants and children.
