Dr Fitri Widhiastuti is a postdoctoral research associate at the School of Chemical Engineering, working in the Algae & Organic Matter (AOM) Laboratory. She previously worked as a postdoctoral researcher at RMIT University and completed her PhD there in 2022. She holds an MSc from National Cheng Kung University and a BE from Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology. Her research primarily focuses on water and wastewater treatment processes, including adsorption, oxidation, advanced oxidation processes, nitrification and denitrification, emerging contaminants removal, cyanotoxins degradation, and sensor application in water quality monitoring.
Beyond research, she is a member of the STEMM Champions Program 2024 cohort, advocating for women, non-binary, and gender-diverse individuals in STEMM. Additionally, she actively serves as a committee member on the Australia Water Association's water literacy and education specialist network, sharing a passion for water knowledge with the broader community and schools.
