Gill Schierhout is mixed methods health systems researcher whose work focuses on evaluation of innovative policy reforms and programs in health. She has skills and expertise in evidence synthesis, evaluation, health systems research, and commissioned research, working with multidisciplinary and multi-country teams in in collaboration with government, academic and civil society partners. Gill has a particular interest in primary health system reform and the impact of reforms on equity of access. Her research work is underpinned by qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods expertise and decades of experience conducting evaluations closely with and for health system stakeholders globally and in many different countries in the Asia Pacific, and in Africa where she lived for many years. In Australia, Gill has been a trusted advisor to the Australian Aid program in respect of design and evaluation of Australia’s investments in health in the region. She has published widely and is lead or chief investigator on a number of grants and commissioned research projects focused on evaluating innovative policy reforms and programs to improve the access and quality of primary care, particularly for disadvantaged groups.
