Hossein Rahimpour completed his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, Australia, in January 2026. He received his M.Phil. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Newcastle, Australia, in 2018, and his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering – Power from the University of Tabriz, Iran, in 2005.
He is a Chartered Professional Electrical Engineer with more than 20 years of industry experience across the power sector, specialising in high‑voltage systems, power transformers, and asset management. Over his career, he has held various technical and engineering leadership roles, contributing to grid reliability, transformer fleet performance, and strategic asset management initiatives.
Hossein’s research interests encompass smart grid technologies, cyber‑physical security, artificial intelligence, and advanced diagnostics for modern power systems. His doctoral research, conducted jointly at UNSW and CSIRO’s Data61, focused on developing AI‑enabled methods to enhance the cyber protection and operational resilience of smart transformers in digitalised electricity networks. His work is motivated by the increasing integration of intelligent devices within the grid and the evolving landscape of cyber threats targeting critical energy infrastructure.
