Dr Isabella Tan is a Research Fellow from The George Institute for Global Health, Conjoint Lecturer at the University of New South Wales, Sydney and Honorary Senior Research Fellow at Macquarie University, Sydney. With a biomedicall engineering background, Dr Tan’s research spans across biomedical to clinical research, and, more recently, implementation science. Her research interests include arterial haemodynamics, technologies for blood pressure monitoring and implementation of hypertension screening in the community.

Dr Tan has vast experience in different areas of research within medical and health sciences. Her previous work involved research on the effects of heart rate on arterial stiffness, investigations of cuffless blood pressure devices, and provision of clinical assessment of arterial function, blood pressure and cardiac autonomic function within a cardiology clinic. She has recently piloted work on combined health screening in older adults and seeks to continue research on multi-disciplinary strategies for implementing hypertension screening in the community. She has also developed research interest in implementation science and is currently involved in the process evaluation of two clinical trials within the hypertension field. She continues collaborations both nationally and internationally on research in cuffless blood pressure monitoring.

Dr Tan is passionate about engaging with the community and has been involved in community blood pressure screening since 2017. She has run several community talks and blood pressure screening events for raising awareness on high blood pressure and stroke.
