Prof. Parsi is the Head of Department of Dermatology, St. Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney and Program Head, Dermatology, Phlebology and Fluid Mechanics Research Laboratory, St. Vincent’s Centre for Applied Medical Research. He served as Staff Specialist in Dermatology and Vascular Anomalies, Sydney Children’s Hospital for 10 years. Professor Parsi sub-specializes in vascular anomalies and vascular dermatology. Prof Parsi is a fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists (FACD), Australasian College of Phlebology (FACP) and Australasian College of Legal Medicine (FACLM).
Prof. Parsi is a medical graduate of the University of Sydney (MBBS). He obtained his Master of Science in Medicine (MSc) followed by a PhD in the field of thrombosis, haemostasis and fibrinolysis from the University of New South Wales (UNSW). He then completed a Master of International Law (LLM) from the University of Salford, Manchester.
Prof. Parsi is a conjoint Professor of Medicine at UNSW and has served as an Adjunct Professor of Fluid Mechanics at the University of Sydney, School of Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering.
Professor Parsi’s basic science research has focused on physico-chemical and fluid mechanics of sclerosant foams and the interaction of detergent sclerosants with coagulation, antithrombotic and fibrinolytic mechanisms. His clinical research in phlebology has focused on deep vein sclerosis and sclerothrombus. His research in dermatology has been on dermatological conditions with a vascular aetiology including pigmented purpuric dermatoses (PPD), vascular malformations and reticulate eruptions.
Professor Parsi served the Australasian College of Phlebology (ACP) as President (2007-2017) and was the convener of the Annual Scientific Meetings (2007-2017) and the World Congress of Phlebology (Melbourne, Australia; 4-8 February 2018).
Prof. Parsi is the Immediate Past President of the International Union of Phlebology (UIP) and prior to that served as Vice President (2009-2013), Treasurer (2013-2017) and President-elect (2018-2019).

My Research Activities
We conduct most of our work from Dermatology, Phlebology and Fluid Mechanics Research Laboratory, Level 8, St. Vincent's Centre for Applied Medical Research.
In phlebology, we have investigated sclerosing agents and their interaction with blood components, thrombotic and antithrombotic mechanisms.
My interest in basic science research has focussed on the biological effects sclerosing agents.
In fluid mechanics, our research has focussed on physics and rheology of sclerosing foams.
In vascular dermatology, we have investigated conditions such as pigmented purpuric dermatosis and vascular malformations.
