My Grants

ARC Discovery Project Indigenous knowledge futures: protecting and promoting Indigenous knowledge (DP180100507) a 5 year project (2018-2022) with A/Prof Daniel Robinson (Environmental Humanities, UNSW Sydney).

The project seeks to map the diverse uses of Indigenous knowledge, in order to unlock the future potential of such knowledge for public use, ensure benefit to knowledge custodians and to counter misappropriations. Using innovative fieldwork and community-based methods, this project also aims to examine customary laws regulating Indigenous knowledge and biocultural diversity. This would be used to to develop and test community protocols and regulatory tools. It is anticipated the project will assist custodians and other users of indigenous knowledge to meet their obligations under the 2014 Nagoya Protocol to the Convention on Biodiversity, thus protecting and promoting Indigenous knowledge in Australia and the Pacific into the future.
