Dr. Mostafa Rahimi is a professional transportation engineer and distinguished scholar with a robust academic background and extensive research experience. He holds a Ph.D. in Materials, Mechatronics, and Systems Engineering from the University of Trento, where his research primarily focused on the simulation of transportation networks, travel behavior analysis, and machine learning modeling. He is currently serving as a Research Associate at the UNSW Research Centre for Integrated Transport Innovation (rCITI), under the esteemed supervision of Prof. Taha Hossein Rashidi.

Dr. Rahimi also holds a Master’s degree in Transportation Engineering from Sharif University of Technology and a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology (Tehran Polytechnic). His academic journey has been marked by excellence and dedication, earning him numerous accolades and recognition in his field.

With a profound interest in transport-related subjects, Dr. Rahimi has contributed to numerous publications in prestigious peer-reviewed journals and conferences. His main research interests include discrete choice modeling, traffic simulation, transport analysis, environmental impact assessment, artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning modeling.

Outside of academia, Dr. Mostafa Rahimi is an official coach, referee, and instructor of Taekwondo Martial Arts, which provide a balanced and well-rounded approach to his professional life.

My Research Activities

My research activities encompass advanced modeling and simulation of transportation systems, with a focus on agent-based simulations and discrete choice modeling of transportation networks. I leverage my expertise in data analytics, machine learning modeling, AI, simulation, visualization, and computer programming to develop innovative methodologies that address complex urban transportation challenges. My work integrates statistical analysis and computational techniques, including AI-driven models, to predict and evaluate the impact of vehicular emissions—both exhaust and non-exhaust—on air quality. With a strong background in transportation system modeling, I aim to provide actionable insights for policymakers and contribute to the development of sustainable urban mobility solutions.
