Biography

Patrick Makuluni has an interdisciplinary background spanning Geophysics, Geology, and Civil Engineering. He holds a PhD in Petroleum Engineering from UNSW (2022), an MSc in Mineral Exploration and Mining Geology from Curtin University (2017), and a BSc in Civil Engineering from the University of Malawi (2012). Patrick Makuluni has an interdisciplinary background spanning Geophysics, Geology, and Civil Engineering. He holds a PhD in Petroleum Engineering from UNSW (2022), an MSc in Mineral Exploration and Mining Geology from Curtin University (2017), and a BSc in Civil Engineering from the University of Malawi (2012). His work focuses on advancing a quantitative understanding of intraplate deformation, basin evolution, and resource systems. He is an Associate Lecturer in Geophysics and Stratigraphy at the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, UNSW Sydney. Before joining UNSW, Patrick was a Postdoctoral Researcher in Geophysics at CSIRO, Canberra, ACT (2022–2025).
