Dr Rizwan Khan is an Early Career Researcher specialising in translational immunology and immunopeptidomics. His research focuses on understanding how immune responses can be harnessed to improve the diagnosis and treatment of virally driven cancers, infectious diseases, and neurodegenerative disorders.

Dr Khan completed his PhD at Western Sydney University, where he investigated disturbances in the adaptive immune system of patients diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. His research combined next-generation sequencing to profile B and T cell repertoires with tandem LC-MS/MS based proteomic analysis, contributing to a deeper understanding of immune dysregulation in Alzheimer’s disease and supporting efforts to advance early diagnostic approaches.

His current research focuses on virally driven cancers, where he integrates immunopeptidomics with antigen specific T cell profiling to discover and validate novel tumour associated antigens. His research aims to characterise T cell responses against viral and tumour antigens, identify clinical biomarkers, and develop next-generation precision immunotherapies. Through this work, Dr Khan seeks to advance our understanding of immune responses to virally driven cancers and improve outcomes for patients.
