Dr Braund is Postdoctoral Fellow working within the Clinical Research Stream of the Research Directorate at the University of New South Wales, Black Dog Institute.

He completed his PhD at the University of Sydney in affiliation with the Brain Dynamics Centre, Westmead Institute for Medical Research. His PhD was supported by a NSW Health PhD scholarship and accelerator grant. He has been awarded the University of Sydney’s Peter Bancroft Prize for Research Work for his doctoral thesis, the Black Dog Knowledge and Translation and Dissemination Award, and the Society for Mental Health Research Interstate Travel Award.

His research interests include treatment predictive markers for mental disorders and digital mental health. He is currently developing digital phenotypes for mental disorders in collaboration with the NHMRC Future Proofing Trial and the MRFF Optimise Trial teams.
