I graduated with a PhD from the University of New South Wales in 2007. I then completed a number of post-doctoral fellowships at the University of Sydney, Neuroscience Research Australia and the University of Utah. In 2020, I was appointed as a combined track (teaching & research) academic in the Department of Anatomy, where I lead the Brain and Behaviour Research group, School of Biomedical Sciences, UNSW. My research examines neuroanatomical and behavioural changes associated with psychological disorders. I am particularly interested in basal ganglia-related disorders and currently investigate Parkinson’s disease, autism, and drug addiction. Specifically, some of my current research activities include examining potential toxins found in food as models of Parkinson’s disease, and examining the neural basis of compulsive behaviour. I manage a team of undergraduate research students (Honours) and PhD students, and I am the co-convenor of the Neuroscience Honours program.
